Staying Plugged In

I just want to encourage you and thank you for caring for God’s people. Please know that you are truly making a difference. We are a “frontlines type of” ministry. So many times we don’t get the accolades, pats on the back and often go unnoticed. Also we may feel depleted and need to be recharged. This is precisely where God meets us!
I would like to share something that just happened recently. I had a couple of tough weeks. There’s been a lot of transition and demand on me both in my personal life and ministry. However; I had a pretty cool God moment that got me thinking. Basically I was asked to do something that would add one more thing to my already overflowing plate. With so many pastors unavailable due to our Summer schedules I was asked to perform a baby dedication and a baptism (on the beach) for one of our congregants that was getting ready to go out of the country. I must admit I halfheartedly accepted the request mostly because it’s the right thing to do as a pastor and also because I knew it would help one of our other campus pastors. I had to wake early and drive nearly 2 hours round-trip. As I arrived at the beach I met this really nice family with two cute and energetic little boys. I got to know a little bit about them just from the brief walk from the parking lot to the beach.
As the sun was just on the horizon and morning joggers passed by, I had the honor of dedicating those precious kids to the Lord and baptizing their mother in the crisp cool morning atlantic. The look on a believers face as they emerge from the water is absolutely priceless and amazing. It reminded me that God is still in the business of miracles! He just only needs his servants to take a step of faith and trust him and know that He will work all things out for good. I walked away fulfilled, energized and humbled. So while it may seem that i was doing the ministering; I was the one getting ministered to, just by being willing to love His people.
Its the same with Care Partners. Life is not perfect; it’s often times inconvenient. We have our own life issues to deal with. But some how we find grace and strength to care for His people. I believe it is that sacrifice that causes God to work on our behalf.
Thank you for Caring.
